If Tomorrow Never Comes
This week has made me take a step back and ask myself “What is really important – career or family?” I had a great opportunity to speak at the PAEYC conference that I told you about earlier this week and we were going to Discover our Why! Well, in the meantime life happened and our family lost a loved one and my focus shifted to family. In reflecting on this, I discovered that is my WHY! Family is why I do everything – nothing else matters. Family comes first so we will celebrate the life of our cousin this weekend and I will speak at another event in the near future. These choices are what makes us who we are.
Are your goals and priorities clearly defined or do you let the unimportant get in the way of you and your family’s happiness? Take time today and think “What if tomorrow never comes?” We are never guaranteed tomorrow for ourselves or the one’s we love. Hug and kiss your kids today. Shower your spouse with love. Pick up the phone and tell your mom and dad you love them. Set some time out of your busy schedule and enjoy your family and remember the words Garth Brooks sang:
Sometimes late at night
I lie awake and watch her sleeping
She”s lost in peaceful dreams
So I turn out the lights and lay there in the dark
And the thought crosses my mind
If I never wake up in the morning
Would she ever doubt the way I feel
About her in my heart
If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way to show her every day
That she’s my only one
And if my time on earth were through
And she must face this world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes
‘Cause I’ve lost loved ones in my life
Who never knew how much I loved them
Now I live with the regret
That my true feelings for them never were revealed
So I made a promise to myself
To say each day how much she means to me
And avoid that circumstance
Where there’s no second chance to tell her how I feel
If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way to show her every day
That she’s my only one
And if my time on earth were through
And she must face this world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes
So tell that someone that you love
Just what you’re thinking of
If tomorrow never comes

I am an educator in every facet of my life. I teach early childhood education in the classroom and online as well as develop online training and professional development for employers. I also teach homeschoolers literature and homeschool my 17 year old son who graduates in May.
I usually say, family is my number one priority. If it wasn’t for them, i wouldn’t be where i am right now. That poem made me realize more about appreciating the people that i love more often than i usually do. Thanks for sharing the message above!
